In this blog, our Poole Harbour Community Archaeologist Hazel reflects on recent workshops and events.
We started off with Wareham Museum, where we were kindly given access to the museum's historic photo archive. Using these photos of the local area in the past, the museum's volunteers were encouraged to share experiences on coastal change in Wareham. Their valuable insights (alongside lots of lovely photos!) are showcased in this blog.
We later plonked ourselves at Poole Quay's fisherman's docks, outside the legendary Bailey Bakes coffee and cake van. We spoke with lots of passers-by - from cyclists to fishermen, and hikers to commuters - and heard fantastic insights into their relationship with the Harbour and coastal change.
If you're interested in community heritage, the rivers of the harbour, clay wagons (yes you read that right!), rugby, or Seagull Island, then read more here...
