We have kindly been granted access to the Museum's photo archive. During this structured session, we will be working through the Museum's collection of historic photos of the town, the river, and the coast. Participants will be invited to share their memories of the area and collaboratively identify changes in Wareham and the surrounding land and seascape.

Participants will also assist in the scanning and digitisation of this photo collection, which is of great value to the museum. This will aid in making the history of Wareham accessible for future generations.

From this workshop, participants can expert to…

  • Contribute to the museum’s digital archive
  • Contribute to the Coasts in Mind project, which aims to map coastal change in Poole Harbour from a people’s perspective
  • Connect with others in the community
  • Reflect on how Wareham and the local environment has changed
  • Share your memories, and hear other people’s memories
  • Discuss what heritage in Wareham means to you
  • Enjoy free beverages and biscuits (if you want to!)

Please note that photos, videos, and recordings will be taken during this event.

To learn more about the project and how to get involved, or for any questions on accessibility, then please get in touch. If after booking a ticket you are unable to attend, please let us know so that we can accept another booking. The event takes place in a large, ground-floor hall that has wheelchair-friendly access directly onto North Street.

With thanks to Poole Museum’s archive for this postcard of the Purbecks, overlooking the harbour.
