Salmon Fishing in Appledore

We recently interviewed Walter Fowler of Appledore in North Devon. Walter has lived in Appledore his entire life, and is one of the last of the traditional salmon fishermen. He very kindly shared his memories with us.

In this audio-visual story, you can hear Walter’s memories of learning to salmon fish and see all of the places on the Taw-Torridge estuary where he fished. This is a fascinating glimpse into an industry that was once one of the main trades in Appledore.
