As Poole developed in the 1960’s and 70’s the need for space to grow into became ever greater. In the 1980’s, a major land reclamation project was completed in Holes Bay to the north of Poole Harbour. It would provide space for a new industrial complex serving the growing town and provide new, quicker transport links for the area.
A once sprawling saltmarsh filled with wildlife and adventure for the youngsters from local communities was infilled, taking with it a precious landscape and their connection to the coastline.
