Our Community Citizen Scientists

Who are the people who are contributing to the Coasts in Mind Community Archive? There are several different levels of participation including map viewers to citizen scientists and moderators.

Community Citizen Scientists at a workshop are sitting around a table using laptops to learn how to use the CIM archive.

There are different user groups outlined for our project.

Viewers are individuals that use the archive for research or interest but do not create new records.

Community Citizen Scientists are users who add or edit entries in the platform. There are several different roles for these users:

Contributors add records to the archive.

  • Entry level contributors can add points, media and the basic required information for creating a useful record.
  • Advanced level contributors will add records with more complex data, providing more detail and using the annotation features in the platform.

Trained volunteers are contributors who have been specifically trained to advanced level to assist in moderation of data.

Moderators are Coasts in Mind staff who validate the archive entries that are entered by contributors.
